February is National Heart Month. Our focus this month and throughout the year is to promote good health. Not just heart health, but overall health. In our business, we see too many good people with often preventable health conditions.
In January of 2014, Paul Perantinides and Chris Nolan challenged everyone at our firm, to get in shape and make healthier lifestyle choices. The challenge was not just about being more physically active. It was also about making healthier nutrition choices. Now a year later, we had great participation and are proud of all those at our firm. Perantinides said that it was also fun to see the results not just every day at work but through pictures taken at the annual Christmas dinner they have at his home.
“It was a subject of a lot of discussion and a lot of laughter,” he said. “So I was real proud of everybody that participated. It was a fun thing to do.”
Perantinides and Nolan are hopeful that this challenge could help motivate other firms and individuals to reexamine their own health choices and make fitness a priority.
“When you get to be a certain age, there are few things we can control in terms of health,” he said. “So we try to stay active because that is a matter of choice and what we consume is also a matter of choice.”
He believes that his employees’ good health helps not only them but also trickles down to the clients they serve.
“We should always take the time to look after our own good health,” he said. “Because when we’re in a good health and making right choices, I think that assists us to better serve our clients.”
